Teo Nikolov teaches LMT's How to recognize sports-related injuries....
Since January 2012 Teo Nikolov was chosen to be one of 7 Sports Massage Instructors for Florida State Massage Therapy Association (FSMTA).
the role of Sports Massage Instructor is:
They are Responsible for presenting FSMTA's Pre & Post Event Sports Massage Training as outlined in the FSMTA Sports Massage Training Manual.
they Also give 4 FL credit hours to the LMT's they teach.
the outline of the training is:
- personal conduct while at events;
- team policies and procedures;
- team operations and roles;
- How to prepare for and conduct a sports massage event;
- How to perform a 4-5 minute pre event sports massage routine;
- How to perform an 8-10 minute post event sports massage routine;
- How to interact with athletes;
- How to recognize thermal injuries and deal with cramps;
- How to recognize sports-related injuries;
- About contraindications for sports massage.
So far Teo has trained two groups of therapists-one in Tampa and one in Fort Myers.
